Sob. It is barely the first week and I am already down for so many things...oral examination, going down to collect cert soon, geog sharing, dept sharing, planning lessons, setting tests n compiling my own resources for use.
I am tired and I want to rest. I need strength, and I know this is not a unique problem. My other friends face the same. Family problems too. Loads. Lord I need You. I need You to keep me sane and intact.

Today is my second day as a BT. Woke up late and slept in till 6.30 am. Yes and i clocked in at 6.56am. Well..I need to start taking better care of my health cos I felt so dizzy while I was teaching today. I felt that the world was spinning. Probably I did not get enough sleep and my body is crying to me to rest.
Well, for CME today, I got my kids to do some reflections in pairs on why they like to be part of the school. My Sec 1 class is still relatively cooperative. Maybe they have not shown their true colours! Ha ha. EL lesson was a little draggy as I got them to do their information reports in class. This helped me to achieve two things-to save my voice and to ensure there is some peace and quiet in class.
While i was making my rounds to the various classes today, I realised that I was being watched, though by whom I am not sure. But I noticed that there is one male teacher who observes me when I am in the classrooms from the opposite block. Withitness would you call it? I really need to be more in tuned with the classes and get to know them better.
Planning worksheets is still a crazy affair everyday. Sigh. But today I also realised that my lessons have a little more structure than the lessons yesterday, and that is good. Slowly, I am beginning to get into the swing of things. Now I am still planning for tomorrow's elective geog n EL class! Oops. But blogging about things helps me to keep checks on my progress and gives me space to think through how i can improve. :)
Yes, a sunny side up day for me today.

My first day as a BT. Well, the first class was geog, and it did not go too well. Was unprepared and bewildered by two ah lians who gave me attitude n continued putting their heads down to sleep. Welcome to my first SEC 3 NA class. I thought I heard groans when the P first introduced me to the school. Well I am not exactly popular and I am certainly not fighting to be.
My sec 1NA geog class today was alright but a little on the chatty side. Did not get to do much as I had prepared little and there was much admin to do..collecting this n giving out that. Sigh. I hate admin work. Sec 1exp was alright too, though i dun really know my new form class well. I am taking one Sec 1 EL class. Frankly I really set off on a buang note, forgot to set the tone n expectations so I better do that tmr. I went through some grammar exercises and one information report with them and got my kids to do some draft on an information report. I dun really like EL and I dun know how i should teach! Gosh.
I just hope my kids will be more forgiving than my practicum classes. Sigh. Off to continue marking scripts and generating more answers to holiday homework which the other teacher did not set.

I went for cg today at a new place, in a new home, under a new leader. Got to know a wonderful sister who used to teach in my previous school and has since opted out. Also got to know how she fell into depression and attempted suicide. After hearing from the horse's mouth about the state of things, I have learnt many things.
The most important thing i got out of it was that I know now who I can trust and who I can't, so Lord, pls, help me to be discerning. Sharpen my spirit that I may find favour in the eyes of men. Interesting. I came across this verse in the bible that really spoke right to my heart.
Ps 37:5-8
"Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. "
"He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday."
"Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; D not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass."
" Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Do not fret-it only causes harm."
It seems as though this verse was tailor made to suit my needs, just when I needed it the most. I need to press on. Thank you Jesus for all that you have done and for giving me favour in the sight of others. Thank you for the silent sentinels and angels who fight behind my back and fight for me. Thank you for these, whom you have brought into my life. I know I can make it.

In SS, we often have to check for reliability of the source, which was what I did in order to find out what really happened behind closed doors in school. Found out from contacting a contract teacher colleague about what _______ actually said about me.
Gasp. I also found out tt she had not been treated well. Not once did __________ help her in the setting of the mid yr paper, but she got confronted by HOD about setting a very hard paper and not working closely with __________. I am sorry but names cannot be put here, if not I am being PinC. L pointed out to me that HOD asked her if ___________ helped her at all during her six months there. Apparently not. So people are not blind in here after all. They actually know how sick some people can be.
At least now I know who I can turn to for help. Surely not ____________.

I attended a Social Studies workshop today with my HOD at NIE. It was to prepare us for the new revised syllabus to be implemented w.e.f next year. Today's topic was on conflict and harmony in multi-ethnic societies. The speakers were cool, as they really knew their stuff. You could literally see the passion in their eyes as they talked about the situation in Ireland and Sri Lanka.
It was a pity I could not understand all that they were saying because I could not catch the accent. What I found heartening was that the road to peace is widening in Ireland, following countless Bills being passed and parties in a ceasefire situation. However, it does not look so optimistic over in Sri Lanka, as the reasons for conflict are many and resolutions are lacking. There is alot that I need to read up on, should I get to teach SS next year.
Meanwhile I am so grateful that they have provided us with some resources for the new syllabus in a neat CD in this workshop. Time to feed on knowledge again =). Managed to get a ride home with my HOD who kindly offered to give me a lift. She is one sweet nice person who truly looks out for the welfare of her staff. I had been roped in to attend the workshop today not because another colleague requested it (his wife just gave birth), but because my HOD cared that he should spend quality time with his wife and asked me to come instead if I could.
It is not often that we get to meet people who do care about our welfare, especially in our job! I am thankful and happy. What made me feel even more encouraged is the fact that she even went as far as to praise her staff( me included!), saying that she really loves her geog teachers becos all of them are so marvellous. She also said that all of us, even the trainee geog teachers and past contract teachers, have taught her so much when she observed their lessons. It is daunting as I am unprepared to teach SS but what will I not do for my HOD? She is so nice!

I played PSP2 Xmen with Dear all the way while waiting for the match between Italy and USA to commence. The game was fun and cool. I liked using Gambit and Jean Grey because they are so cool. The way they fight in battles is so beautiful. HA ha.
And I hate that Sabretooth guy. He looks so fierce!! And that slimy Toad. Ewww. Going to try to finish playing this before I officially start my career which is next week. Sigh. Already arrows flying everywhere. I guess I better take leave early in Dec to go away or risk getting no break at all. Sigh. I want to watch the match at 12am tonight between Brazil and Australia. But I also recall that I got a SS workshop tomorrow at 9am... The tragedy of life.
On another happier note, I feel happy to be in a new cg, under a male leader. I prefer my present leader to my previous one. Males are usually more relaxed and comfortable when they relate to others, while females are more uptight and critical in general. Ha ha. Hurray to my new cg. Soccer fanatics in the group too. Can't wait for the gathering on Wed.

Went to school to meet my HOD today and collected my SOW, resources n books to prepare. Overwhelming! Yes. I am taking over all the ADHD classes, as I recall them from my relief classes...All NA classes as well. Sec 1s and Sec 3s. My "favourite" classes. I am both happy and frustrated. Happy because I wun get to teach the haughty express stream kids! Oh yeah!
Frustrated cos I am taking over YJ's beloved classes..those with ADHD kids. Ha ha. Good luck to me. I have seen enough for myself and yet I daresay I still look forward to school. Cos I will be teaching elective geog. I think my HOD intends to let me teach SS next year. But I am not very keen on it. Do I have a choice? It seems not. Just becos SS is a compulsory subject...Haiz. And no Lit classes for me, not now, not in the future. 1 EL class, Sec 1 Express. Oh yeah.
Whatever. Did I also mention that I am going to ask for a transfer to a school in Sengkang after two years are up? Cos my future home is there. So I am going to scout for a sch there soon. If anyone knows of any sch there, pls let me know. Total of 15 teaching periods for geography, and 7 for EL which makes for a total of 22 teaching periods, excluding CME and what nots. Sigh. The workload is crazily crazy. Yet I am still looking fwd. I must be bonkers!

Yes, my kids already know about my return! Alas, bumped into a total of 10 students in my future school. It seems that my very nice CT had already told them I am coming back, way before the hols. Ha ha. Homecoming??
And gasp...some of my students stay very near me! Literally a stone's throw away. One of them called out to me as I walked past her block. The end of a private life. :P But wait, I am still going to go on my suppers and staying out late, in spite of the heavy workload and busy hectic life of cherz. The rebel in me says live life to the max.
It is very heartening to see my students smiling and calling my name out loud so the whole world knows me. Ha ha. Hush kids, not everyone is that enthusiatic about my coming back!

Been going in and out of the toilet the whole of today. Stomachaches and feeling weak. This must be a horrible, if not the most horrid experience for me. Sucks. Went to see the doctor. Hope I don't black out again. Or scare my poor parents.

You know, I love the Cadbury song, the one that goes, " Wouldn't it be nice if the world was Cadbury..". I love chocolate, and I am dying to try Godiva chocs..but they r so expensive!!! Anyway, I was just thinking, wouldn't it be nice if I could stay another half a year in the dreaded school and get to stay around all my wonderful geography n lit friends before we officially become trained teachers.
Today marks my last day as a trainee in the cherz academy. Of course, we still have to come back for the convocation ceremony, but otherwise..I don't think I will ever see these chers again as a class, as a whole. I am going to miss the fun and the friendships. I wish all my fellow chers a good journey ahead as we are sent out to various schs all over sunny Singapore.. May my own path be bright. All the best!

I am headed for doom, come two weeks later. To a 'heaven' that promises alot but gives nothing but tears and heartache. Hopes that had been laid have vanished and are replaced by wisps of useless longing. All is gone with the ticking of time. But scars, they stubbornly refuse to heal. As I step into the not so far future, my feet ache and refuse to go to doom-land.
There is no looking back from now. I am going into a place where I do not wish to be. To be reminded of promises and hopes that have become nothing now. My heart is dead now. I have accomplished nothing.
